Description Enviro Masonry Water Repellant is a masonry sealer designed to penetrate surfaces such as concrete, brick, natural stone and other masonry products, providing a water repellant surface. The substrate is not visually changed after treatment. Enviro Masonry Water Repellant penetrates deep into the pores of the masonry and reacts chemically to provide a durable long lasting barrier against water and salt ingress.
Advantages • Penetrates pores for long lasting protection
• Preserves the natural appearance of the stone
• Provides an efficient barrier to water and salt ingress
• Eliminates efflorescence
• Easy to apply
• Invisible
• Prevention of moss growth and dirt retention on concrete surfaces
• Allows masonry surfaces to breath while providing high repellant characteristics
Uses Enviro Masonry Water Repellant effectively treats the following substrates: • Concrete block
• Natural stone
• Brick work
• Sand-lime brick work
• Masonry blocks
• Precast concrete
• Clay brick
• Plaster
Physical Properties • Appearance Clear Liquid
• Specific Gravity 0.8
• Flash Point ca 60?C
• Solubility in water Insoluble
• Corrosiveness Not Corrosive
Application Directions
Surface Preparation
Hairline cracks need not be filled however cracks wider then 0.3mm should be sealed. Repair damaged expansion joints and faulty junctions. Clean dirty surfaces and remove algae or moss before impregnation. Cleaned surfaces are easy to impregnate due to increased absorbency. Allow surface to dry before applying Enviro Masonry Water Repellant treatment. Any salt or efflorescence should be removed using diluted acid.
Application
Using a low-pressure spray (hand pump pressure pot) or brush to achieve total saturation with a minimum of 2 coats applied sequentially (wet on wet). To ensure that sufficient impregnate enters the surface, Enviro Masonry Water Repellant should be applied by spraying or flooding. Larger areas are best treated using low-pressure airless spraying. Smaller areas can be treated by brush applying Enviro Masonry Water Repellant– adhering to the application rate.
When spraying, the distance between the nozzle and the wall should be 5 – 10cm. Enviro Masonry Water Repellant is applied until no more is absorbed and the solution runs down 40 – 50cm. The spraying nozzle is then slowly moved on, horizontally. With this method, care should be taken that the substrate is evenly wet during application. Do not apply below 10?C or > 30?C or if rain is expected within 8 hours.
Packaging Enviro Masonry Water Repellant is available in 20ltr, 4ltr and 1ltr drums.
Coverage
Varies widely, dependant on absorption and surface porosity of substrate, eg from 3 square metres per litre to half square metre per litre for highly porous material. A trial area of 1 – 2 square metres will assist in determining application rate.
Cleaning
Tools and equipment may be cleaned with Enviro Thinners No.1.
Shelf Life
Enviro Masonry Water Repellant clear can be stored in its original tightly sealed container for at least 12 months.
Usage Precautions
Masonry temperature at the time of application should be above 4?C. New masonry surface should be dry and be a minimum of 14 days old. Confined or inside areas must be properly ventilated. Protect adjacent areas from overspray. Combustible – Keep material away from open flame.
Safety Advice
Enviro Masonry Water Repellant contents are environmentally friendly. Always provide ventilation and wear appropriate personal protection Equipment (PPE) during use. If swallowed, DO NOT induce vomiting, have plenty of water or milk. Seek immediate medical advice. Wash off splashes of material with clean water and soap. If irritation occurs seek medical advice.
